Our Annual Gala will recognize Mrs. Pat Van Slyke, the late Lieutenant Tony Contreras, Dr. Patricia Campos-Medina, and Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman. One of New Jersey's most treasured cultural institutions is preparing for an unforgettable evening of music, celebration, and community.

The Plainfield Symphony Orchestra, the oldest symphony in New Jersey and the second oldest continuously operating community symphony orchestra in the United States, will host its annual Gala on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 7 PM at the Plainfield Country Club.

The evening will celebrate four distinguished honorees whose leadership, service, and commitment have left a lasting impact on Plainfield, New Jersey, and beyond:

Mrs. Pat Van Slyke and the late Lieutenant Tony Contreras will be recognized for their decades of unwavering commitment to the Plainfield community, civic engagement, and steadfast support of the arts.

Dr. Patricia Campos-Medina will be honored for her leadership as a nationally recognized advocate, educator, and champion for workers, immigrant communities, and civic participation.

Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman will be recognized for her lifelong dedication to public service and her tireless advocacy on behalf of the residents of Plainfield, New Jersey, and the nation.

The Gala will bring together community leaders, elected officials, business owners, arts supporters, and residents for an evening of fine dining, music, celebration, and philanthropy, with proceeds benefiting the Symphony's ongoing educational and community programs.

Proceeds from the Gala help sustain the Symphony's annual concert season, student scholarship program, free family concert, and educational initiatives, ensuring that the arts remain accessible to audiences of all ages.

"For more than a century, the Plainfield Symphony has enriched our community through the power of music," said Board President Mark Miller. "This Gala is an opportunity not only to celebrate our remarkable honorees, but also to invest in the future of an organization that continues to inspire audiences of all ages."

Now entering its 107th season, the Plainfield Symphony continues to make the arts accessible to the entire community through innovative programming and educational outreach. In addition to presenting a diverse concert season featuring classical masterworks, pops performances, family programming, and collaborations with guest artists, the Symphony awards annual scholarships to outstanding local student musicians and hosts a free family concert each year, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to experiencing live orchestral music.

Remarkably, the Plainfield Symphony is powered entirely by volunteers. From its Board of Directors to concert operations and community outreach, every dollar raised directly supports the Symphony's mission of bringing exceptional musical experiences to audiences throughout the region.

Tickets are $225 per person, with sponsorship opportunities and group packages available.

Guests are encouraged to dress Semi-Formal, Black Tie Optional.
