Contact: Mark Miller (908-561-5140)

The annual PSO Pops Concert will be held on Saturday November 19, 2022 at 7:00 pm. Under the baton of Maestro Charles Prince, the program will include musical selections from several legendary as well as less known Broadway musicals along with operetta gems, and operatic favorites. Featured vocal soloists for the evening will be Monica Arnó and Brian Cheney.

The evening will include Franz von Suppé’s Light Calvary Overture, and selections from a number of memorable Broadway shows: Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate, John Kander and Fred Ebb’s Chicago and Cabaret, Kurt Weill’s Lady in the Dark and opera Street Scenes, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, and the operetta The Gypsy Princess by Emmerich Kalman. There will be a few additional surprises and operatic selections.

Appearing with the PSO for the first time is vocalist Monica Arnó. With roots in Austria and Germany, Ms. Arnó has a background in musicals, operettas, acting and accordion playing. She has appeared in numerous musicals and plays, created one-woman shows including ones of Edith Piaf and Frieda Kahlo, and toured through 40 cities in China in a musical based on the tragic life of Austria’s beautiful Empress Sissi. She met our Maestro Charles Prince in 2012 and together they produced a play Wie man(n) sich bettet, so liegt man(n). In 2015, they were married and currently reside in New Jersey.

Returning favorite tenor Brian Cheney has been hailed by KUSC Los Angeles as the “next great tenor.” He is a protégé of legendary tenor Jerry Hadley, and has gained international acclaim for his portrayal of major roles in Carmen, Tosca, La Boheme, Rigoletto, Aida, and I Pagliacci. Following his 2007 debut at Carnegie Hall, Mr. Cheney has performed concert works, oratorios and is an accomplished recitalist in the United States and internationally. In recent seasons, he showcased his seamless versatility in the role of Victor Frankenstein in sold out performances of Gregg Kallor’s World Premiere of Frankenstein in NYC.
